ISTE STANDARDS FOR STUDENTS

CODE.org

The first step to introduce students to computer science.  Last year Oakdale participated in the Hour of Code, the largest campaign in history to introduce students to just how fun and easy it is to code.  In our Techniteer Troupe we will be taking that to the next level introducing students to key vocabulary and doing activities both on and off the computer to teach the basics of coding.

Sphero

There is no rule that says learning shouldn't and can't be fun, or that playing can't be a valuable way to learn.  Sphero is a way to turn fun into learning and creating learning using what we have learned with both Code.org and using the Makey Makey.

Makey Makey

MaKey MaKey is an invention kit for the 21st century. Turn everyday objects into touchpads and combine them with the internet. It's a simple Invention Kit for Beginners and Experts doing art, engineering, and everything inbetween.  We will use what we have been doing with Code.org to find different, creative,  and inventive ways to use and control the things that we use everyday.

Google Cs first

Enpowering all students to create with technology through computer science.  CS First provides free, easy-to-use computer science enrichment materials.  CS First is the next level up from Code.org enabling students to start to create their own code to make their own computer science projects.
