2019-2020
Techniteer Troupe at East Sandy Elementary has 2 sessions, a fall session and a winter session. Fourth and fifth grade students submit applications to participate in each 8-week session. Activities include using Virtual Reality glasses and Google Explorer to be lead on adventures in outer space, under the sea, and even back in time! Students also use block programing to code various programs including the Hour of Code and Scratch. Techniteers program using Makey-Makey kits and Sphero.
Session 2- Winter
Session 2 didn't disappoint! Students started the session with an unplugged STEM sequencing day, with games that challenged their thinking. We also had a blast with the MaKey-MaKey kits and the Scratch programing program. The Sphero Shape Challenge was a new addition, requiring students to program their robot, using block code on an I-Pad. At each vertex, the Sphero competed some sort of additional task such as flashing colors, spinning, and even saying a short phrase. We rounded out our last session creating QR Codes for a special Valentine. With 30 registered students in 3rd (invitation only), 4th, and 5th grade, Tech Troupe has brought together students from a variety of ages and technical desires and abilities. I am looking forward to seeing these amazing techniteers next year! Stay amazing and stay curious.

Join us for our 2nd session of the 2015-2016 school year!
We are a group of mostly 4th and 5th graders (plus one 3rd grader) who love exploring the world of coding and how to manipulate code to control computers and games. Last session, we worked with Code.org and Makey Makeys. Second session, we will use CS First, Makey Makeys, and Spheros! It's going to be a fun time. :) |
