Tech Troupe

The Canyons School District Education Technology Department is excited to announce the start of our Elementary Tech Troupes this year! This year tech troupes will be held at some of our fine elementary schools. We are lucky enough to be able to have one here at Alta View Elementary. The purpose of our tech troupes to provide a fun, engaging environment for students to learn Computer Science/Photography skills. Students in grades four and five are invited to apply to participate in our tech troupe. Students must submit the online application form no later than February 26th.
Tech Troupe Information:
● Tech Troupe will occur on Monday’s and Wednesday’s from 3:00pm-4:00pm. The first troupe meeting will be March 2nd. The sessions will happen twice a week for 4 weeks (Mar. 2nd – Mar. 25th). The dates the Tech Troupe will be held are:
○ Mar. 2nd, 4th, 9th, 11th, 16th, 18th, 23rd, and 25th.
● In order to apply for this tech club students must:
○ Be a 4th or 5th Grade Student at the school where the tech club is held.
○ Submit a 1-2 paragraph written essay stating why you (the student) would like to join tech club.
○ Agree to follow and honor the behavior expectations of Alta View Elementary Tech Troupe (see below).

Alta View Elementary Tech Troupe Expectations:
In order to provide a safe environment for students to learn, explore and work behavior expectations must be met. Students should behave in a way that comports with the behavior expectations and guidelines of the school. If student behavior in tech troupe is not deemed safe, kind, and responsible, a student may be asked to leave and lose the privilege of participation in tech troupe.
Please know that consistent participation is also a must for success in tech troupe. Students who miss more than two sessions in an 4 week period will relinquish their spot to a student on the waiting list. Students are responsible for their own transportation home. Please make sure students are picked up promptly at 4:00pm at the front office doors of Alta View Elementary.
This is an extracurricular activity and not a regular school function. Please know that our office and the front doors close and lock at 3:30pm. You will not be able to pick up your child early, but will need to wait outside until the 4:00pm release. I will supervise the students as they are leaving to go home.
